The project of inhabiting

The 5th Pioneers of Modern Spanish Architecture Congress is focused on the generations of Spanish architects born around the 1910s and 1920s who produced masterworks of the country’s architecture.

Spanish architects adapted the principles of modernity to the country’s social and cultural context, with new quality and comfort criteria. In their proposals, they synthesized and reflected the discoveries, dreams and interests concerning inhabitance that each one had contributed on the basis of their approaches, experiences and research in the field. Their projects looked beyond the mere satisfaction of physical or housing requirements and strove to meet the inhabitants’ emotional desires and needs in order to enrich their existence and their well-being.
