Pocitos, an example of the encounter between the urban fabric and the sea

Helio centers his work in the Pocitos neighborhood of the city of Montevideo. A place whose Cartesian grid arrangement, with blocks of 100 yards per side, about 83m, arises from the project that the cartographer José María Reyes carried out in 1833.

Helio, with his incisive gaze, shows us, in his photographs, the pedestrian's vision of that seafront, from both ends of the bay, recognizing in them how the smooth and infinite surface of the sea-beach merges into the flat floor of the city entering under the buildings, precisely through that shadow line produced by its continuous flight.
