The new University Hospital Sant Joan de Reus is a building that is located in an urban expansion area where is planned to generate a new technologic neighborhood. The building is implanted in a big horizontal tablet with two basements and a ground floor, over it it’s located a 6 bar comb of admissions with two different floors each.

The north facade support one of the roads for quick access to the city through projecting bodies that hold out the admission spaces. The most public circulation axis of the hospital, is South oriented and it is the result of a big boulevard, the transition space between the indoors and outdoors of the hospital.

The project tries to control the scale of a big hospitality equipment, therefore the own urban scale for the enter spaces and the public circulation and the hospitality scale, with proximity and seclusion necessities. Accordingly the most public area regards to, both on the user level as well as the climatic aspects, as if it was a street and the admissions area it’s sorted around three outdoors courtyards with garden, where the rooms are, which try to humanize the living scale of this area.
The hospital is conceived as a big system that organize services subsystems. The public, medical and technical needs are organized into a hierarchy and connected using circulations to create sequences where restrictions to the access possibilities are defined, causing clarity on the circuits and preventing from interferences.

The architecture is on the same time an infrastructure able in a large way to produce naturally the climate and lighting conditions for his interior life.
