The building destined to be the Tourist House is set in a direct relationship with this route, with its shape determined by it. The currently existing wall in front of Candido de Cruz Street is moved back in order to reorganize the space, constituted as the “gateway” in the lower level of this same route and also one of the entrances for the new building.
The shape of the building is essentially assumed as a topographic device that allows different heights to be related, different levels to be connected, and the ground to be shaped in order to establish perspective, framing and new perspectives. The upper body is like a perched volume, autonomous of its topographical support and looking out to more distant horizons – a simple window on the river.
