This issue of TC Cuadernos presents the first monograph devoted to the Portuguese practice Correia / Ragazzi, whose work is clearly rooted in the tradition of contemporary Portuguese architecture while developing a distinct voice shaped by constructive precision, formal control, and an intense relationship with place.

Far from an architecture understood as image, the work of Graça Correia and Roberto Ragazzi is built upon an inseparable relationship between geometry and materiality, where each project is conceived as a coherent system in which form, structure, and technique evolve simultaneously. Architecture does not emerge here as a merely compositional result, but as an essential response to the specific conditions of each commission.

One of the most characteristic aspects of their work is the way structure participates in defining architectural space. Neither hidden nor autonomous, structure occupies an intermediate position from which it articulates the project, establishing a precise balance between expression and construction. This allows their architecture to be understood as a continuous negotiation between form and technique, in which both condition one another.

The volume surveys a selection of works that reveal a constant attention to context, understood not as something to be reproduced, but as a reality to be interpreted and transformed. Projects such as the house in Gerês, set within a landscape deeply altered by human intervention, show how architecture can establish new relationships with its surroundings through precise decisions of siting, geometry, and materiality.

In continuity with the Portuguese tradition — marked by figures such as Souto de Moura — their work embraces values such as expressive restraint, constructive coherence, and disciplinary rigor. At the same time, their more recent projects suggest an opening toward new forms of expression, in which ornament appears in a measured way as an additional layer of complexity.

This monograph therefore offers a comprehensive reading of an architectural practice that, through precision and coherence, explores new possibilities in the relationship between form, technique, and place.
