TC 95- Juan M. Otxotorena. Architecture
Architecture is an activity that makes time a necessary material. Time for content, time for development and value consolidation. There is in fact a lot of architecture that cannot, nor should, be viewed in isolation but rather as part of a set, in a way of making it fit with that necessary time, and that acquires its individual significance insofar as it belongs to a period in which other works have seen the light more or less simultaneously.
They are group architectures, in one way or another related and conceptually and formally linked by starting points and common conditions. Architectures that, without being identity, do respond to clearly defined circumstances and interests at least for a “time”, a specific period and a value system that gives them unity.
I believe, without a doubt, that the works carried out by Juan Miguel Otxotorena can be read, above all, from this perspective. (Francisco Mangado)
