EB 19- New Spanish Architecture
En Blanco 19. New Spanish Architecture brings together a selection of recent works that reveal some of the most significant lines of research and practice within contemporary Spanish architecture. Rather than presenting a simple generational catalogue, the issue proposes a critical reading of the concerns, design strategies, and professional contexts in which a new architectural practice has emerged.
The projects featured —including the energy production plant for Expo Zaragoza by Alday Jover Arquitectos, the Varsavsky House by Acebo Xalonso, the Can Feliç Nursery School, the Fuensanta House, and the archaeological intervention in Daroca— illustrate diverse approaches to questions such as the relationship with landscape, interventions in heritage contexts, and the construction of new public and educational spaces.
Alongside this selection of projects, several critical essays expand the discussion on the recent context of Spanish architecture, addressing topics such as the professional evolution of a new generation of architects and the impact of initiatives such as Europan on the transformation of the discipline. The result is an issue that offers an open perspective on recent developments in architecture in Spain.
