TA 19- Contemporary Spanish Architecture

The volume Contemporary Spanish Architecture brings together a selection of recent works that offer a representative overview of some of the most relevant lines of architectural practice developed in Spain in recent years. Through projects built in different contexts—public facilities, housing, and interventions on existing buildings—the publication presents a journey through a generation of architects who have continued to develop the discipline with rigor and ambition even within a particularly challenging professional context.

Edited by Alfonso Díaz Segura, the book features works by studios such as Taller Básico de Arquitectura, Roldán + Berengué Arquitectos, Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra, Harquitectes, Arquitecturia, Zigzag Arquitectura, Alcolea + Tárrago Arquitectos, Ted’A Arquitectes and Sol89, offering a diverse and precise panorama of recent Spanish architectural production.

Beyond the diversity of scales, languages and programs, the projects presented share a common reflection around three fundamental themes of architectural design: place, construction and programme. These parameters allow architecture to be understood as a discipline capable of engaging with its physical and cultural context, exploring new constructive logics, and responding to social transformations and evolving ways of inhabiting space.

Through drawings, photographs and detailed graphic documentation, the book allows readers to understand both the design strategies and the technical solutions that shape each work.
