En Blanco 16 is dedicated to the work of the Swiss architecture studio Buchner Bründler Architekten, founded in Basel by architects Daniel Buchner and Andreas Bründler. Through a selection of projects carried out mainly in Switzerland, the issue presents an architectural practice defined by constructive precision, a direct use of materials, and a careful relationship between building, landscape, and urban context.
In many of their works, concrete plays a central role, not only as a structural system but also as a material capable of shaping the atmosphere and spatial experience of the architecture. The publication includes projects such as the Lofthaus in Basel, the Volta Zentrum, the summer house in Linescio, and the extension of the St. Alban Youth Hostel, among others, showing how the studio addresses different programs through precise construction strategies and a strong material presence.
The issue also includes critical essays and an interview with the architects, offering insight into their design approach and working methods. Together, these texts reveal an architectural practice grounded in the exploration of construction processes, the expressive potential of concrete, and the capacity of architecture to generate intense spatial experiences through apparently simple means.
