Buchner Bründler Architekten

Daniel Buchner and Andreas Bründler

Buchner Bründler Architekten is a Swiss architecture studio based in Basel founded by architects Daniel Buchner and Andreas Bründler. Since the late 1990s, the practice has developed a body of work widely recognized within contemporary European architecture for its strong attention to materiality, constructive precision, and the relationship between architecture and place.

Much of the studio’s work explores the spatial and expressive potential of concrete, used not only as a structural system but also as a material capable of shaping the atmosphere of spaces. In many of their projects, the construction process, the logic of formwork, and the texture of the material become essential elements of the architectural language.

Over the years, Buchner Bründler Architekten has designed housing, public buildings, and urban projects mainly in Switzerland. Among their most recognized works are the Lofthaus in Basel, the Volta Zentrum, the summer house in Linescio, and the extension of the St. Alban Youth Hostel, projects that reflect an architecture based on structural clarity, spatial intensity, and a careful relationship with context.

The work of the studio has been widely published and internationally recognized, establishing Buchner Bründler Architekten as an important reference in the contemporary debate on architectural materiality and the expressive use of concrete.
