En Blanco. Collective Housing addresses one of the most enduring fields of research in architecture: the relationship between residential typology, construction, and the city. Through a selection of contemporary projects and critical texts, the issue explores how collective housing continues to function as a laboratory in which new ways of inhabiting and organizing urban space are tested.
The publication brings together projects from different geographical contexts that illustrate diverse approaches to collective housing, including works by BAK Arquitectos in Buenos Aires, Ambrosi + Etchegaray in Mexico, H Arquitectes at the ETSAV campus, and Bevk–Perović in Ljubljana. In these projects, concrete plays a central role as a material capable of articulating structure, form, and architectural expression, whether through in situ construction, prefabrication, or a combination of both.
Alongside these contemporary works, several essays revisit key references in modern architecture and their relationship to collective housing, from the work of Denys Lasdun to large-scale experiences such as Corviale. The result is an issue that proposes a broad reflection on collective housing as an architectural, constructive, and urban problem.
