Paredes Pedrosa Arquitectos is an architectural studio founded in Madrid in 1990 by Ángela García de Paredes and Ignacio García Pedrosa, both PhDs from the School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM). The firm began its journey in close collaboration with the renowned architect José María García de Paredes and has since developed an architecture that combines contextual sensitivity with formal precision, reflected in emblematic projects throughout Spain.
The work of Paredes Pedrosa spans from heritage interventions to innovative public infrastructures. Among their most notable projects are the Villa Romana de La Olmeda in Palencia, the Public Library of Ceuta, the Lugo Auditorium, the Archaeological Museum of Almería, and the Valle Inclán Theater in Madrid. Internationally, they are currently working on the Spanish Educational Center in Rabat and the Spanish Embassy in Rome.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (MIVAU) awarded them the National Architecture Prize 2023, in recognition of their contribution to Spanish architectural landscape. The jury highlighted their ability to transform and regenerate spaces with a lasting cultural impact and their commitment to teaching and research, which they have carried out at institutions like ETSAM and IUAV in Venice. This prize adds to a list of distinctions such as the Gold Medal for Fine Arts and the Spanish Architecture Award.
The architecture of Paredes Pedrosa is characterized by its balance between modernity and respect for context, and their work continues to represent a contemporary and respectful alternative in a world increasingly inclined toward spectacle and formalism.
