Angelo Candalepas

Angelo Candalepas, founder of Candalepas and Associates, is a leading figure in contemporary Australian architecture. A 1992 graduate of the University of Technology, Sydney and a life member of the Australian Institute of Architects since 2019, his career combines innovation, philosophical depth and a focus on the cultural significance of his work.

From his early days working with influential figures such as Colin Madigan, to founding his own practice in 1999, Angelo has accumulated numerous accolades. His office has received awards such as the Sulman Medal for Public Architecture and the Seidler Award for Commercial Architecture, cementing his reputation nationally and internationally.

Among his most iconic projects is the National Gallery of Victoria Contemporary, Australia's largest gallery dedicated to contemporary art. This work reflects his philosophy of creating spaces that dialogue with their surroundings and human emotions. Candalepas is also recognised for his academic contribution, lecturing at Australian universities and participating in international forums that promote architecture as a tool for cultural transformation.
