Hiéronyme Lacroix, Simon Chessex, Grégoire Martin, Ludovic Durand

Founded in 2005 in Geneva by architects Hiéronyme Lacroix and Simon Chessex (both EPFL graduates), Lacroix Chessex has built a recognized practice in Switzerland and abroad. With a stable team and the addition of Grégoire Martin and Ludovic Durand —partners and managing directors since 2020— the firm’s work ranges from single-family and collective housing to public facilities, as well as transformation and rooftop extension projects on existing buildings.

Their architecture begins with context and the memory of place to deliver contemporary, precise, and timeless solutions. It reinterprets vernacular typologies and embraces an honest material palette —wood, concrete, stone, and brick— with particular care for construction detail and human scale. This approach yields comfortable spaces and social thresholds (courtyards, galleries, and transitions) and a pragmatic sustainability based on passive strategies, timber construction, and the reuse of existing structures. Each project is conceived as a specific exploration, free of preconceptions, responding with accuracy to site, program, and users.
