This book offers a visual journey through the creative process of the Mexican studio of Manuel Cervantes, through a careful selection of the most important drawings made by Cervantes himself, which accompany and give form to the genesis of his architectural works in Mexico and other parts of the world.

Far from being a simple compendium of sketches, the drawings in this volume reveal Cervantes's thinking and methodology, highlighting the importance of drawing as a tool for reflecting, exploring and constructing habitable space. Each stroke, each line, is part of a living process that accompanies the development of his projects, from the first sketches to the precise definition of construction details.

The book also includes texts by leading figures in architecture and contemporary criticism, such as Rafael Plascencia, Alberto Kalach and Juan José Kochen, who explore the intimate relationship between Manuel Cervantes' hand-drawing and his architecture.

Manuel Cervantes' built work cannot be understood without these sketches and drawings, which cover all scales: from furniture, garden, house or building to landscape and public space. For Cervantes, drawing was not an end in itself, but a tool for thinking about and planning human habitation, exploring the relationship between the body and space, the interior and exterior, the natural and the constructed.
