Cartagena decided, a few years ago, to colonize the quay’s terrains of Alfonso XII, reserved till then to installations and port activities. Its industrial constructions were demolished and in its place new buildings, like the Subaquatic Archeology National Museum, will contribute by generating a new activity center for the city. In the quay of Alfonso XII, constructed in 1872 in front of the city walls of Carlos III, in terrains gained to the sea, will be located the new building with an architecture that responds to the specific conditions of the place and at the same time, other places.
